The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys basketball team kicks off the playoffs tonight with a trip to Durant for a neutral site game against the Wilton Bevaers. Mid-Prairie comes into the contest with an overall record of 7-13, winning four straight, their longest streak since the 2010-2011 season. Their last game was a 67-56 win over Durant last Tuesday behind 25 points and 10 rebounds from JET Physical Therapy Basketball Athlete of the Week, Carter Harmsen. On the season the Golden Hawks are led by Harmsen at 13 points per game. Brad Tornow has the team lead with 86 assists. Aidan Rath leads the Hawks on the glass with 119 boards.

Wilton comes into the game with an overall record of 4-17. Last time out the Beavers were beaten at Bellevue 72-47 despite 19 points and 12 rebounds from Caden Kirkman. On the season, Kirkman leads the Beavers scoring 14 points per game, dishing out 35 assists, blocking 58 shots and pulling down 215 rebounds. These two teams met twice during the regular season with the Hawks winning 62-43 in Wellman behind 20 points from Ethan Trimpe and 10 from Harmsen. At Wilton the Hawks were also a winner 51-42 with Ethan Trimpe scoring 12 and Aidan Rath 10. This week, Mid-Prairie head coach Daren Lambert talked about keys to the game. “I think the biggest thing comes down to rebounding. Holding them to one shot. Assists to turnovers is also important. It means we are moving the ball, getting good shots, knocking them down and taking care of the ball.”
