Lone Tree citizens can have their concerns heard about a new wastewater treatment facility being built. The City of Lone Tree has conducted an environmental review and determined the new facility will not impact the surrounding environment. The current facility no longer meets the ammonia and E. Coli bacteria discharge requirements set by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. The new facility looks to fix this issue and last for the next 20 years. The project is estimated to cost $5.7 million. Citizens can voice their concerns or approval of the project’s impact to the local environment during a 30-day comment period. Comments can be sent to Iowa DNR Environmental Specialist Jean Mayne at Jean.Mayne@dnr.iowa.gov or 515-725-0487.
