After a pursuit, two people were arrested early Monday morning in Washington. According to the Washington County Communications Office, at 1:33 a.m. a deputy attempted to stop a vehicle on 220th Street at Riverside Road. The driver, 24-year-old William Braxton McCarroll, refused to stop. Three sheriff’s deputies and two police officers responded to the scene. The vehicle reached 120 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zone, and 75 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone. The vehicle was stopped at West 6th and North Avenue D.

McCarroll was arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated first offense, interference with official acts, driving under suspension, speeding, eluding, stop sign violation, failure to maintain control, reckless driving, public intoxication, and open container. Also, 20-year-old Seth Michael Deatsch of Rock Rapids was a passenger in the vehicle and arrested for public intoxication. Both were taken to the Washington County Jail.
