A big fourth quarter kept the Lone Tree girls’ basketball season going on Tuesday, as the Lions upended Holy Trinity 59-52 in a regional quarterfinal matchup.
It was nip and tuck for much of the game with Lone Tree holding a 13-10 lead after one, but trailed 27-25 at the break. The Lion deficit grew to four heading to the final quarter when Lone Tree outscored the Crusaders 19-8 in the fourth to capture the seven-point victory. Madi Jacque was a big reason why with a game-high 22 points on seven of 18 shooting including hitting three triples. The junior also hauled in six rebounds, dished out four assists, and had six steals. Holley Johnson was also in double figures with 16 points and recorded five boards.
The Lions improve to 13-10 and advance to the class 1A region 4 semifinal tomorrow at Burlington Notre Dame (19-4).
