sigourney-3

It’s a battle of four-loss teams in Iowa City tonight, as the Sigourney girls’ basketball team faces off with Springville in a class 1A regional semifinal matchup.

Sigourney advanced after having little trouble with English Valleys on Tuesday by winning 61-23 and improving their record to 18-4. Megan Stuhr is coming off of a 25-point performance and also a night she picked up her 1,000th point. The senior averages 21.2 points a contest and Kaylee Weber adds depth with 13.6. Springville is 19-4 and they handled Iowa Valley 62-33 in the first round. Lauren Wilson and Morgan Nachazel are a dangerous one-two punch with a combined 30 points a night. While both offenses have the ability to put up points, they will be tested tonight. The Orioles give up just 34 points a game while the Savages hold their opponents to 31.

The chance to keep the season alive begins at 7 p.m. tonight at Iowa City High School. Listen to all of the action on FM 106.1 KCII.
