The latest chapter of the storied WACO vs Winfield-Mt. Union boys basketball rivalry saw the Warriors remain perfect on the year and end the Wolves season Thursday 46-38 in Wayland. The Wolves threw the first punch, jumping on the Warriors early, taking a 13-9 lead into the second quarter, the game was tied at 19 going to the half. In the second half, things remained tight through the third, tied at 30 going to the fourth. WACO won the fourth 16-8 to grab the victory and advance. Three Warriors got to double figures led by Nik Coble with 13 points, Drew Kissell with 12 and Gabe Reichenbach with 11. Jared Arnold led the Wolves with 12, Christian Gerot had 10. WMU finishes their season with a 7-17 overall record. The Warriors improve to a perfect 22-0 and will play New London Tuesday at Burlington Notre Dame in the district semifinals.
