For the first time in its team history, the Sigourney-Keota bowling team will be represented at the Class 1A State Bowling Tournament after Holden Huffman qualified as an individual.
The senior was runner-up at the state-qualifying meet on Tuesday in Muscatine after shooting a two-game score of 480. That final tally was in the top 12 of the state and allowed him to advance as an at-large bid. Huffman started the day with a 211 first game and exploded for 269 in the second. Other Sigourney-Keota scoring included Dominic Bendsmiller 329, Jackson Droz 307, Maltese Thomas 304, Joel Goldman 277, and Corren Freel 153 for a final team count of 2,434.
Hannah Alderson led the girls’ team with a two-game score of 361. Other scores included Layla Faccioni 274, Samantha Bombei 252, Hope de Regnier 252, Addison Strovers 227, and Dana O’Neill 178 to finish with 2,007 pins as a team.
Huffman will compete in Waterloo for the state meet running tomorrow through Wednesday.
