There were four influenza-related deaths in Iowa last week, including one pediatric flu death. According to the Iowa Department of Public Health, 27 people have died in Iowa from influenza-related illness this season.

Last week, there were 76 influenza-related hospitalizations and the proportion of outpatient visits due to influenza-like illness was 4.01%, which is more than double the regional baseline. Of those 272 outpatient visits 53 were children under the age of four, 182 were people between the ages of five and 24, 24 were people 25-49 years old, and 13 were people over 50. There were also two long-term care influenza outbreaks and 83 schools with 10% or greater absence due to illness.
