A rivalry matchup with the season on the line is the scenario in Davenport tonight, as the Washington boys’ basketball team starts up the class 3A playoffs with meeting number three against Mount Pleasant.
The Demons grinded out two regular season victories against the Panthers winning 62-50 in December and 55-54 in January. Washington had 10 days to prepare for this one, as they were last on the hardwood February 14th in the Southeast Conference clincher against Keokuk. They finished the regular season 14-6 and Ethan Patterson leads the squad with 10.4 points a night. Trashaun Willis is fresh off of a 22-point performance and Luke Turner leads the league with 100 assists. The Panthers are 11-10 and Clayton Lowery combined for 30 points in the two meetings with the Demons. Washington head coach Collin Stark knows the challenge that is ahead. “Mount Pleasant figured out their identity at the end of the year and they have some impressive wins. We can’t allow them to get comfortable in the half court and our priority is to get after it defensively.”
All of the action begins at 6:30 p.m. tonight at Davenport Assumption High School. Listen to the game on FM 106.1 KCII starting at 6 p.m.
