A phone scam is circulating with people posing as Alliant Energy falsely stating they’ll disconnect power if payment is not made in a few hours. Alliant Energy says customers in both Iowa and Wisconsin have received such phone calls in recent weeks. Alliant Energy does not call customers and demand immediate payment and will not ask customers to purchase prepaid credit cards. The scammers are making it appear as though the calls are coming from Alliant Energy. The official phone number for Alliant is 1-800-ALLIANT (800-255-4268).

If you receive a call demanding immediate payment, Alliant Energy officials advise you to hang up, log in to the Alliant website to see your account or call Alliant to see how much is due on your account and when.
