updated-snow-projections

One to two inches of snow is now projected for the KCII listening area. The National Weather Service updated forecasts as the slow-moving winter storm shifted south. Most of the snow is expected to fall Tuesday into Wednesday morning. The NWS says to expect slippery roads, especially the further south and east you go. Also, they state that forecasts could still change.

Washington County Emergency Management Coordinator Marissa Reisen says if you do have to go out in snow then give yourself extra time, “Clean off the windshields and just take the time to let your car warm up. It’s not necessarily about the car running better when it’s warm, it’s about letting your car warm up and get some of that snow off, and get some of the ice off. And just be better prepared. And if it’s snowing or raining, if your wipers are on make sure your headlights are on.” Reisen explains those headlights also help other drivers see your vehicle, including those behind you who then see your tail lights.

Reisen adds that each time a winter storm approaches, the forecasted projections and models from the National Weather Service get more accurate as the storm moves closer. Listen to KCII for road conditions and weather updates.
