The filing period is now open for candidates running for state and federal office in the June 2 primary and November 3 general election. Only candidates from the Republican and Democratic parties need to file for primary elections. Those who are unaffiliated or members of non-party political organizations are also required to file. The deadline is March 13th. Candidates can file their nominating petitions and affidavits of candidacy with the Iowa Secretary of State’s Office.
