A valiant second half surge was not enough for Lone Tree to keep their season going last night, as they fell in a class 1A district semifinal 71-62 against Springville in Riverside.

The first quarter was a back-and-forth affair with the game tied at 16-16 after eight minutes. The Orioles started to get some separation in the second outscoring the Lions by 10 to take a 39-29 lead into the break. The advantage was as much as 15 points late in the third when the Lions caused some havoc defensively to crawl their way back. They got to within four early in the fourth, but could never get any closer and Oriole free throws down the stretch salted the game away. The Lions had three players in double figures led by Keegan Edwards with 18 points, Cale Yoder had 15, and Cory Krueger added 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Springville improves to 18-5 and faces Highland tomorrow in North Liberty. Lone Tree closes the season 14-10 and say goodbye to six seniors in Yoder, Edwards, Krueger, Tyler McCullough, Harmon Miller, and Josh Mills.
