A man is being held in jail with a $100,000 bond on a Washington County warrant. According to the Washington County Communications Office, on Saturday the Jones County Sheriff’s Office notified Washington County that they had 34-year-old Jacob Eugene Hansel of Martelle under arrest and in custody on local charges and the warrant.

The Washington County warrant is for controlled substance violation and failure to affix a drug stamp. Those charges originate from an incident that happened in Riverside on October 1, 2019, when authorities arrested Hansel at a gas station on a North Liberty Police Department warrant for assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, driving while barred, and criminal mischief in the second degree, as well as seven Jones County warrants for intimidation with a dangerous weapon, three assault charges, eluding, failure to have insurance, and possession of a firearm or dangerous weapon by a felon. At that time, additional charges were pending per DCI lab results. Hansel is being held in the Jones County Jail.
