The Sigourney girls basketball team took advantage of other team’s miscues, knocking down free throws at an impressive clip this season. The Savages finished 64.9% at the line as a team, sixth best in class 1A, going 220 of 339 at the stripe on the year. Megan Stuhr led all Savages who had at least 50 attempts on the year with a 74.1% mark at 106 of 143. The 1,000 point career scorer ranked sixth in the state for those who shot at least 100 freebies during the season. Other top shooters for Sigourney included Rain Barthelman at 75% on three of four, Macy Fisch 66.7% on six of nine, Kaylee Weber 63.2% on 55 of 87, Madelynn Hornback eight of 13 for 61.5% and Julia VanEe three of five for 60%. Sigourney ended the season with an 18-5 overall record.
