The new all-time leading rebounder in the WACO boys’ basketball program recently received the highest honor by the Southeast Iowa Super Conference, as Nik Coble was named player of the year in the south division.

The 6’7’’ senior led the Warriors to an undefeated regular season in his ability to get it done at both ends. His 13.3 rebounds a night ranked third in class 1A and 14.6 points per game was fourth in the division. Coble also dished out 114 assists while creating 62 steals and 41 blocks defensively. Fellow senior Drew Kissell was also named to the first team. Kissell was the floor general for WACO tallying 10.4 points a contest, shot 40% from long range, managed 95 assists, and 31 steals.

Pietro Vannini and Gabe Reichenbach were named to the second team. In his only season in a WACO uniform, Vannini fit right in recording 12.9 points a game and hauled in 96 boards. Reichenbach was the fourth player to average double figures with 10.2 points and finished second on the team with 107 rebounds.

Elijah McGohan and Braden Hammond were recognized as honorable mention. McGohan had 31 assists and 25 steals while Hammond was a sharpshooter leading the squad with a 41.7% success rate from deep.

The Warriors finished the season 22-1 and lose eight players including all six conference selections to graduation.
