The nationally ranked Rolling Panthers wheelchair basketball team will host a wheelchair basketball tournament Saturday, March 7th at the Wellman YMCA. The event is a three on three format with four pools of four teams each competing. Area community members will compete in wheelchairs. Cost is $25 per player. Each team is guaranteed at least three games. There will also be a silent auction and concessions. This week star player for the Rolling Panthers Jayden Stafford, and his mom Shelli, from Wellman, talked about what they hope participants get a chance to experience. “I hope they can see what these kids are capable of doing and their love of the game,” Shelli Stafford said. “Jayden is extremely competitive, so it’s great for him to have that outlet.” Jayden Stafford added, “I hope people see this isn’t just a fun league, but people are playing for important things like college scholarships and this is what they want to do with their lives.”
