It’s a big weekend for the Washington Water Sharks Swim Team, as they travel to Marshalltown for the State Meet.
The squad has 20 members that qualified for the event with swimmers ranging from 8 to 18 years of age. Five seniors will have their final crack at it including Audrey Wubbena, Lucas Kitchen, Colton Slaubaugh, Michael Kimball, and Macy Driscoll. Wubbena tells KCII Sports she’s excited for one last go around. “I’ve been swimming for 13 years so it will definitely be a bittersweet weekend. Sometimes it is hard throughout the year to see all of my teammates at a meet so it will be fun to get back together for one last time. We had a lot of new swimmers this year, but everyone stepped up and we built a good team. Everyone with the Water Sharks always supports each other and we are one big family.”
This meet is a chance for individuals to advance to regionals March 21st and 22nd in Des Moines. State runs tomorrow and Sunday in Marshalltown.
