As spring approaches and temperatures warm up, people are getting active and outdoors more but there are some recommendations to avoid injury from sudden activity. Those activities may range from bicycling to gardening. Eric Tuner with JET Physical Therapy shares some advice, “So first and foremost, if someone hasn’t been very active and the weather is enticing them to return outdoors, whether that be exercise or physical activity in the yard, probably the biggest tip is to return to that activity gradually. Allowing their body to gradually get used to the increasing physical demands. If you overload tissues in your body, it’s a good way to develop soreness or maybe even worse than soreness develop an actual injury. So, resuming those activities gradually, as hard as that may be, helps prevent injury.” He adds that staying hydrated helps your muscles and daily stretching can be a benefit to your body.
