A 20-win season translated to a lot of postseason accolades for the Keota boys’ basketball team, as the South Iowa Cedar League recently recognized five players.
JD Stout and Luke Hammen headlined the selections being named to the first team. Stout rewrote the record books at Keota including a 45-point performance against BGM that stands as the highest single game output. He capped off a decorative career as the class 1A scoring champ with 29.1 points per game while shooting 55.4% from the floor. Stout also brought in 89 rebounds, dished out 70 assists, and created 42 steals. Hammen was the team’s second leading scorer with 12.3 points a night while also bringing down 118 boards and feeding 64 assists.
Carson Sprouse was named to the second team. The junior tallied 11.4 points a contest and led the team with 84 assists and 57 steals. Brady Duwa and Wyatt Sieren were recognized as honorable mention. Duwa cleaned up the mess down low with a team-high 141 rebounds and 33 blocks. Sieren was also a force on the glass with 112 boards and 32 blocks.
The Eagles finished the 2019-2020 campaign with a 20-4 record.
