Washington County Hospital and Clinics has awarded the construction contract for their new MRI machine. The contract was awarded to City Construction out of Iowa City for $140,500. The project is being funded in part by $100,000 from the hospital foundation and a $147,209 Washington County Riverboat Foundation grant. The new magnetic resonance imaging machine has a larger bore and shorter tunnel than the current one. The current MRI at WCHC was new in 2003 and refurbished in 2011. The total project cost is estimated at just under $300,000.
