A new scam call has surfaced around Iowa convincing individuals a vaccine for novel coronavirus has surfaced. The scam caller will tell the individual their dosage is ready and ask for a payment over the phone before any vaccine is sent. Currently, there is no vaccine for COVID-19. Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department state citizens have received the calls, and other counties are reporting the scam as well. The Iowa Department of Public Safety recommends not sharing personal information over the phone or by email, and using extreme caution when opening email attachments. They also recommend calling the Attorney General’s office if you have been scammed.
