United Way’s Disaster Relief Fund is available in response to the COVID-19 situation. The United Way of Johnson and Washington Counties is named as the coordinator for disaster-related volunteers before, during, and after a disaster. All funds donated toward disaster recovery are distributed back into the community with no percentage allocated for administrative services. People can donate to the Disaster Relief Fund online to assist local communities. The fund will be used to assist the most vulnerable populations including seniors and home-bound individuals, families and individuals facing loss of income due to business and school closures, people without health insurance or sick days, people experiencing homelessness, and college students facing barriers as they complete their education.
The United Way of Johnson and Washington Counties’ Disaster Relief Fund started in response to the tornado damage in 2006 and was used again in 2008 for flood recovery. For more information on how to donate or seek help from United Way click here.
