Washington County Public Health Director Danielle Pettit-Majewski encourages people to wash their hands frequently with soap and water for 20 seconds, cover coughs and sneezes, stay home when ill, and practice social distancing, “Really the best thing that we can suggest right now is social distancing however possible. So social distancing does not necessarily mean quarantine unless you are under orders, but maintaining about a six-foot contact from others, especially as you’re out and about.” Additional practices of social distancing can include working from home if possible, limiting contact with others by staying home as much as possible, going out for essentials like groceries once or twice each week, ordering groceries ahead of time for curbside pickup, shopping for elderly neighbors, and not having visitors or playdates.
Pettit-Majewski encourages people to keep their bodies and minds active while at home, which can include going for a jog or bike ride, or exercising in your home.
Of the positive cases in Iowa, 65 are in Johnson County, 13 are in Washington County, three are in Henry County, two are in Iowa County, and one is in Keokuk County. As of Sunday, Iowa has had 5,013 negative COVID-19 test results reported by the State Hygienic Lab and other labs.
