The Washington Police Department is wanting to help area youth celebrate their birthdays while people practice social distancing. Within Washington city limits, the police department will help celebrate with a birthday parade. The department recognizes that many children may be celebrating birthdays and special occasions at home as they practice self-isolation and social distancing during the COVID-19 health emergency. The police will help with a parade with lights and sirens to celebrate. Officers who are on duty will drive by with a mini-parade past homes, and will stop to allow for pictures of your child standing near the patrol cars. Parades will be planned on a first-come, first-served basis and at any point the officers may be called away for an emergency.
