An idea that started from one Mid-Prairie teacher has now blossomed into a mile long car parade filled with eager teachers. Second grade teacher Kerri Bell missed her students so much that she devised a plan to drive over four hours to see all 19 of her students on her own. This idea sparked excitement within the rest of the elementary staff and a bigger multi-city parade was created. The mile-long car parade went through Kalona, Richmond, and Frytown on Monday to surprise students from the comfort of their homes. Bell says she was overjoyed during the parade and says the teachers are the change in the unknown world right now. The West Elementary Mid-Prairie all staff parade will take place today at 6 p.m. This parade will see staff driving around Wellman and West Chester. Students are encouraged to wave from their windows or their own front yards.
