The total property tax asking in Washington County is increasing slightly in the next fiscal year. The Washington County Board of Supervisors approved the tax levies and the fiscal year budget at their meeting Tuesday. The total countywide tax asking is increasing 2.56% and the total property tax asking is increasing 0.72%. Information Technology Director Cyndie Sinn explained with state rollbacks applied the county’s taxable valuations increased, “Our taxable valuations increased by almost 2%, 1.89%, so therefore we gained tax base.” The total rural valuation for Fiscal Year 2021 in Washington County is just over $774-million and the urban valuation is $542,603,922.
