PAWS and More in Washington is working to help families keep their pets at home when finances may be stressed due to COVID-19. The animal shelter’s director Amber Talbot shares how PAWS can assist, “We really wanted to share with the community to please call us. We are also extremely fortunate to have received quite a few donations from various businesses and Nestle Purina has provided significant amounts of pet food for us for the shelter animals and also to help the community. So, if us providing pet food to you is going to be able to keep your pet in your home with you, please reach out to us. We can provide you with, and even other supplies we may have available, so please don’t hesitate to call us. We still want to be a resource for our community.”
At this time, there are no dogs in the shelter as they’ve all been adopted or are being cared for by foster families. They are still looking for a few foster families for cats. The shelter is closed to the public to reduce contact with people for the staff members, but adoptions and fosters can be made by appointment.
The community can reach out to the shelter on their website or leave a message at 319-653-6713 and a staff member will return your call.
