A portion of G36 will be closed on Thursday as a transformer is moved from Washington to Millersburg. Washington County Engineer Jacob Thorius announced the closure will be for six to eight hours beginning mid-morning on Thursday (4/16). The closure will be on G36 from Highway 1 and 92 to Orange avenue. Wolfe House Movers, LLC of Bernville, Pennsylvania will be moving the transformer. The load will weigh nearly 750,000 pounds and will be 18’6” wide and 180-feet long.
Thorius says this is the biggest permitted load the county has seen seek permission to be moved through the county. The county’s bridge consultant reviewed the permit since it will cross one county bridge, and he said it’s probably the biggest load he’s evaluated to see if it was safe to cross a bridge.
The movers will be using the following route from Washington: W61 (Riverside Road) north out of town to G36, and then west to Highway 92. Once they reach G36 the road will be closed to thru traffic as the company will have to reconfigure their moving equipment to redistribute the load as they cross the bridge over the South Fork of Long Creek.
