Nearly 100 units of blood were collected at a recent blood drive in Washington. On Thursday, Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center had a blood drive at the Washington KCI Hall. Ron Andersen with the Lions Club tells KCII News that Washington area donors came through in a big way with 93 units of blood collected. He said that those units can help up to 372 patients in the region. There were also nine first-time donors at the drive.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some blood drives have had to be cancelled and the number of donations has dropped. Extra steps were taken at this recent drive to ensure social distancing and protect staff and donors.
