The coronavirus pandemic is one of very few things that have slowed down the Washington girls’ golf program over the years, but if a season is able to happen in 2020 the Demons could be looking at another special one.

Washington finished sixth as a team in 2019 in class 3A and they return everyone but Carly Burlingame while adding a key piece. Anna Nacos is back in a Demon uniform after placing third individually as a sophomore for the state champions Dubuque Wahlert. Kiki Guo returns for her junior campaign after leading Washington all of 2019 and capped it off with a fourth place finish at state. Josie Tanner and Emily Waite provide some depth after placing 24th and 33rd, respectively. Waite, Maddison Fishback, and Macy Driscoll are the three seniors on the squad and junior Emma Nichols also brings back experience for the Demons that have 13 on the roster.

Head Coach Len Kull knows the potential is sky high, but it’s what you do with the potential that matters. “You can’t play golf on paper and you have to perform on the course. What I will say about our team is they have been out playing on their own and I know they are interested. That is an important thing for a good season. We are going to be a deep squad with a lot of experience and some newcomers that are excited. I look forward to working with the team when the season starts up.”

The current spring sports suspension runs through May 1st.
