A New London family lost their home to a chimney fire on Monday, and the New London School District is gathering donations to help them out. There were no injuries in the fire. After the school district made the call for help, community members brought several donations to the school which were delivered to the family. The most needed donations the school is asking for are clothing for an adult male and female, a female teenager, a younger boy, and an infant girl and other essentials like toiletries and kitchen ware. Superintendent Chad Wahls says monetary donations can be made, but checks should not be made out to the New London School District. Wahls says the district will continue to gather updates from the family in the coming days and weeks to assess what items they still need. Donations can be dropped off at the district office from 8 a.m. till noon.
