Governor Kim Reynolds announced on Friday the additional 900 COVID-19 test kits sent to the Tyson Foods plant in Columbus Junction have been completed and will be processed this weekend. Over 1,100 total tests were sent to the plant after 148 positive cases were confirmed to have come from employees of the plant. Tyson Foods Communications Manager Liz Croston on Wednesday confirmed the deaths of two employees of the plant, and announced the suspension of operations at the plant for the remainder of the week. Croston also says the plant will continue to pay employees throughout the suspension period. According to Friday’s information from the Iowa Department of Public Health, Louisa County has 169 confirmed positive cases and one confirmed death.
