Nine businesses in Washington County received funding through the Iowa Small Business Relief Program that was launched by Governor Kim Reynolds in March. The program was for small businesses impacted economically by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Iowa Economic Development Authority is running the program that offered grants ranging from $5,000 to $25,000 as a deferral of sales and use or withholding taxes due and waiver of penalty and interest. In total, the nine businesses in Washington County received $149,700.

The application window closed March 31st. All businesses that received grants were notified earlier in April and all available funds have been expended. If additional funding becomes available, then the IEDA says additional awards will be made from the current pool of applicants.
