Mid-Prairie sophomore Lilou Beachy has been selected as one of three Iowans to participate in the Virtual International Future Problem Solving Conference. Beachy qualified for the international conference with her scenario writing piece “Fame over Friendship.” Future Problem Solvers International is a way for students to test their critical thinking skills, global issues knowledge, and scenario development skills through competitive and non-competitive events. This year’s topic for the conference is terraforming, a way of transforming a planet to resemble Earth so that humans can live on said planet. Beachy’s scenario writing piece will be judged on creative and futuristic thinking, idea and character development, style and voice, mechanics, topic related research, and relationship to Future Scene.
