Two people were arrested following a traffic stop near Keota Friday night, including a man with four Washington County warrants. According to the Washington County Communications Office, at 6:48 p.m. a deputy stopped a vehicle at 170th Street and Keokuk Washington Road. Authorities arrested 35-year-old Joshua Lee Holmes of Wayland on four Washington County warrants.

Those warrants included violation probation bond on eluding, driving while barred, theft in the third degree and carrying weapons; possession of a controlled substance third or subsequent offense; failure to appear for trial on possession of drug paraphernalia; and theft in the fourth degree. Total bond was set at $11,600. He was also wanted on a warrant out of Muscatine County for driving while barred. Holmes was taken to the Washington County Jail.

Officers also arrested 30-year-old Nichole Amber Jaspering of Washington for possession of drug paraphernalia and charges pending for operating under the influence and possession of a controlled substance.

Holmes’ charges stem from an incident that happened in April of 2019 when he was arrested following a vehicle chase and a stolen gun from Washington County was located in the vehicle.
