Fareway in Washington supported local businesses on National Pay It Forward Day. On Tuesday, the local Fareway provided $50 gift cards to assist the community. Overall, Fareway Stores, Inc. announced a $200,000 donation to the Iowa Chamber of Commerce Executives to provide $2,150 in gift cards to chamber of commerce members. The Washington Chamber of Commerce worked with Fareway managers Dave Waite and Ron Grote to distribute these cards to local small businesses and their employees. Washington Chamber of Commerce Director Michelle Redlinger said many of the recipients were businesses such as salons, restaurants, and small business owners who have been closed for over six weeks.
