freeze-watch

Temperatures are expected to drop overnight tonight and with that the National Weather Service has issued a freeze watch. The freeze watch is in effect for southeast Iowa from midnight Friday until 8 a.m. Saturday with sub-freezing temperatures in the upper 20s possible.

WeatherEye meteorologist Derek Heit says, “A freeze watch means that overnight low temperatures in the next day or two are expected to fall below 32 degrees for at least a few hours over a widespread area. Air temperatures this cold can cause damage to or kill sensitive outdoor plans. If you can, bring these plants indoors or cover them to provide at least some protection from the cold temperatures. Watering plants in the evening can also provide at least some help.”
