One in 44 Iowans have now been tested for COVID-19 and 11,457 Iowans have tested positive for the virus. As of Friday, according to the Iowa Department of Public Health, 4,685 people have recovered or about 41%. Statewide there have been 243 deaths.
In Washington County, 155 people have tested positive for the virus and seven people have died from it. Neighboring counties confirmed cases and deaths include Johnson County with 546 cases and six deaths, Louisa County with 281 cases and two deaths, Henry County with 42 cases and one death, Iowa County with 27 cases, Keokuk County with seven cases, and Jefferson County with six cases.
As businesses begin to reopen with restrictions lifted, people are still encouraged to maintain six feet of distance and practice good hand hygiene to prevent the spread of the virus. If you are ill, stay home.
