Iowa’s farmers have now planted 91% of the expected corn crop, nearly a month ahead of last year and two weeks ahead of the five-year average. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, in southeast Iowa 88% of corn has been planted and 22% has emerged. Below normal temperatures delayed the emergence of crops.
Statewide 71% of soybeans have been planted and in southeast Iowa 62% of the soybean crop is in the ground. Ahead of the five-year average of 24%.
