A North Liberty man being held in the Washington County Jail faces more charges stemming from a chase that happened near Brighton in January. According to the Washington County Communications Office, at 3:37 p.m. Tuesday, 31-year-old Steven Lee Myers was charged with serious eluding, driving while barred habitual offender, interference with official acts, careless driving, and reckless driving.
The original incident happened on January 9th when an officer reported to dispatch that they were in pursuit of a vehicle on Highway 1. The vehicle stopped, the subject fled on foot, and then went into a residence. Eleven officers assisted at the scene.
He was already in the jail for a separate incident that happened March 26th when Myers was arrested for driving while barred, two counts of reckless driving, assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, two counts of assault on a peace officer with use or display of a weapon, interference with official acts with a dangerous weapon, and two counts of assault while participating in a felony. Those charges were filed after an officer conducted a vehicle stop and Myers fled on foot. He was apprehended by officers from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, the Iowa State Patrol, and the Washington Police Department.
