Over 1,000 Washington County residents have been tested for COVID-19 and there have been 172 confirmed cases and eight deaths. Of those cases, 130 people have recovered. According to the Iowa Department of Public Health, as of Sunday the state has confirmed 14,651 cases of the novel coronavirus and 351 deaths. Nearly 49% of the confirmed cases have recovered statewide. Approximately 42% of the cases are people between 18 and 40 years old, and another 37% are people between 41 and 60 years old.

As of Sunday, Louisa County’s had 307 positive COVID-19 cases and three deaths, Johnson County’s had 569 cases and seven deaths, Henry County has had 47 cases and one death, Iowa County has tallied 29 cases, Jefferson County has had 12 cases, and Keokuk County has had 11 cases.

People are still encouraged by health officials to practice social distancing with six feet of distance, wear masks in public, and wash hands frequently. If you are ill, stay home.
