Washington County Engineer Jacob Thorius has been re-elected to serve with the National Association of County Engineers. At their annual meeting and technical conference, Thorius was re-elected to serve as the Vice President for the South-Central Region. The term runs through April of 2022. NACE is a nonprofit, nonpartisan association that represents over 2,400 county road officials and related professionals in the U.S. and Canada. Counties manage 1.74 million miles of roads and own 231,000 bridges.

Thorius has been the Washington County Engineer since 2012 and is also involved with the Iowa County Engineers Association and the Iowa Highway Research Board.
