road-closed

A second superload is being moved in Washington County and a portion of G36 will be closed Wednesday for the work. According to the Washington County Engineer’s Office, beginning mid-morning Wednesday G36 will be closed from Highway 1 and 92 to Orange Avenue for four to six hours. Wolfe House Movers, LLC, of Pennsylvania will be moving a second transformer from Washington to Millersburg. This heavy load is the twin of a superload that was moved in April. The load will be 18-feet six-inches wide and 180 feet long while weighing almost 750,000 pounds.

The transformer will leave Washington on Riverside Road north to G36, then west on Highway 92. Once the load reaches G36 the road will be closed to thru traffic as the moving company will have to reconfigure equipment to redistribute the weight as it crosses the bridge over the South Fork of Long Creek. During the closure, people are asked to use Highway 92 and 12th Street through Washington as a detour.
