The mercury rose well above normal across southeast Iowa on Tuesday. According to the National Weather Service, the max temperature is normally 78 degrees on June 2nd in Washington. However, on Tuesday it reached 91 degrees. It remained below the record high temperature of 103 degrees set in 1934.

The National Weather Service reminds people to be careful in high temperatures by limiting time outdoors and in the sun, take breaks in air conditioning, wear sunscreen, drink plenty of water, and never leave a child or pet in a vehicle.
