In Washington County, 3,126 people cast ballots in Tuesday’s primary. There were no contested races at the county level. Republican officials that will be on the November ballot for re-election will be county auditor Dan Widmer, Sheriff Jared Schnneider, and Board of Supervisors members Jack Seward Jr. for District 1, Bob Yoder for District 2, and Stan Stoops for District 4. Democratic candidate Lorraine Williams is also seeking the District 4 seat for the Board of Supervisors.
Democrats voted for Rich Taylor for State Senator District 42, and newcomers Kimberly Davis for State Representative District 78 and Jeff Fager for State Representative District 84. Republicans have incumbents State Representative Jarad Klein and Representative Joe Mitchell. Republicans selected Jeff Reichman over Nancy Amos to run for the State Senator District 42 seat against Taylor in November.
Statewide Republicans voted for Marianette Miller-Meeks to run for the U.S. Representative District 2 seat against Democrat Rita Hart in the fall. And Democrats selected Theresa Greenfield to run against incumbent Republican Joni Ernst for U.S. Senator.
Washington County ballots will officially be canvassed next week.
