The results are in for the Keokuk County sheriff primary election. Two-term incumbent Sheriff Casey Hinnah was challenged by 30-year law enforcement veteran Keota Police Chief Doug Conrad on the Republican primary ballot. Conrad’s motivation for running for the Sheriff position was to see better retention of deputies in the department and continuous training of dispatchers and deputies. The voters favored Hinnah with a vote of 707-285. Other results from Tuesday’s election from Keokuk county saw Fred Snakenberg secure the Republican nomination over Rachel Ament for the County Supervisor position with a vote of 551-336.
