The Winfield-Mt. Union baseball team will have a veteran group on the diamond this summer when the season starts up next week.
The Wolves look to rebound after a 1-23 campaign last year, but turnover is minimal with just one player lost to graduation. This season the team possesses six seniors led by Christian Gerot, who compiled a team-leading .289 batting average in 2019. Dawson Bergthold knocked in eight runs and also returns on the bump after recording a 10.79 ERA in 24 innings of work. Junior Jacob Ford will look to build off of 13 runs knocked in and a .384 on base percentage.
The season gets underway Monday when the Wolves hit the road to Louisa-Muscatine.
