On an appointment basis, people can use the computers in the Washington Public Library for services like workforce assistance, social security documentation, faxing, and more. Library Director Bryna Walker explains people can call the library to set up a time to use the equipment, “We do have designated times that people can call the library and come in and utilize the computers for things like filling out unemployment forms, faxing forms maybe for social security or things that are necessary during this time. And also, for filling out other things like workforce development, things that we haven’t had a lot of access to. So we’re cleaning a lot after each use. And so, we’re being very cautious here. This is a service that we have opened in Washington County. I don’t believe other area libraries have opened it yet.” To set up an appointment call 653-2726.

In addition, the library’s Wi-Fi is accessible outside of the building. People can bring their own device and use the strong Wi-Fi signal while sitting outside on a bench, or parked in their car, or Walker says she’s even seen people use it from Central Park.

The library is not open for browsing of materials, but people can call to pick up books or DVDs for check out. Materials can be returned in the book drops and they’re then quarantined and cleaned before being recirculated to other patrons. The library has been closed to the public due to COVID-19 since mid-March.
