The Sigourney softball team will look to keep their strong tradition going this summer when they start up the 2020 campaign next week.

The Savages had another top four finish in the South Iowa Cedar League last year with an 18-14 overall mark and 12-4 in the conference. Although they possess just three upperclassmen, Sigourney returns all but one player from 2019 including slugger Megan Stuhr. The senior posted a remarkable .535 batting average last summer with 23 runs knocked in and 21 extra base hits. Her .612 on base percentage led the league. Madelynn Hornback looks to build off of a team leading 31 RBI and junior Kaylee Weber is back after a .342 batting average. Sigourney will have to replace Jordan VanEe in the circle and Hornback is poised to fill the void after posting a 3.07 ERA in 29 innings of work last year.

The Savages have recorded a winning record in each of the last eight seasons. They gear up for the opener Monday against HLV.
